VWTk can animate any selected subset of symbols.
If you have selected a group of symbols (see \refselectingsymbols), you can click Tools-->Animate selected to select that group of symbols.
You can also animate the entire data set by clicking Tools-->Animate everything. This lets you see the activity of the virtual world evolve over space and time.
The animation control panel is intuitive. Click ``Play'' to start or resume an animation, ``Stop'' to stop it. While animating, click ``Pause'' to pause the animation. You can change the speed of the animation by dragging the slider. A higher number indicates faster animation.
While animating, the time is shown in the animation control panel. Note that this time may jump by several minutes or hours if the data has gaps in it. VWTk currently does not attempt to provide a real-time animation because virtual worlds frequently have very long delays between activity depending on the users.
You can change the appearance of symbols, annotate users, annotate chat or change the world size while an animation is running, but it is best to pause it while you are doing so. Note that resizing a world essentially clears all data and re-loads it so all the selections you made earlier will no longer work and the animation will immediately stop.
